We are now through two full weeks of the fall season.
This week’s slate of games have some elite matchups that are worth a special focus. Below are the five games that aren’t part of tournaments or festivals that we will be keeping our eye on – the SSBR Games of the Week.
*All rankings are from our SSBR High School Fall Elite Eight for Week 2.

#6 Okarche Warriors (A, 6-2) at #8 AmPo Panthers (A, 8-2); Tuesday, 4:30
There are three GOTW matchups that feature both teams in the Elite Eight and this is the first one.
Okarche is coming off a week where they beat a tough Ripley team and the former #1 Dale, but lost to #3 Rattan and an always good Wister team.
AmPo went 3-0 last week after dropping back to back games by 1 run the week before to Rattan and Oktaha.
The winner of this game could use it for momentum into the month of September.
#4 Dale Pirates (2A, 6-2) at Ripley Warriors (A, 9-2); Tuesday, 4:30
Dale is coming off a week where they lost two games (Okarche 5-2; Calumet 11-4), but they did win their other three games. The Pirates still have wins over Ft Cobb-Broxton, Oktaha, and Rattan from the week before.
Ripley has already had winning streaks of five and four sandwiched around two losses to Byng and Okarche. The Warriors are looking for a “signature win” early in season and a win vs Dale would be that.
#4 Wright City Lumberjaxs (A, 8-1) at Wister Wildcats (A, 5-2); Tuesday, 5:00
Wright City had an undefeated week last week winning the Varnum Tournament after a tough loss to Okarche the previous weekend. The Jax have beaten Oktaha and Tushka comfortably this season. In their 8 wins this season, Wright City is averaging 9.6 runs/game while giving up an average of less than 1 run/game (0.75).
While Wister has had a couple of ugly losses (Silo 12-5; Oktaha 19-9), they have shown signs of being the type of team they can be. They have a 7-4 win over a tough Preston team and they came back to beat then #2 Okarche, 11-9 in extra innings at the Oktaha Tournament.
Getting Wright City at home is an opportunity for Wister to gain confidence for the rest of the season.
#3 Rattan Rams (A, 9-1) at #1 Silo Rebels (2A, 5-0); Tuesday, 5:00
If it wasn’t for an ugly loss to Dale (21-11) in the finals of the Dale Invitational, the Rams most likely would be the #1 ranked team. However, the Rams do have wins over AmPo as well as Okarche and Oktaha in the Oktaha Tournament they won this past weekend.
Silo has been an offensive juggernaut so far this season. They’ve been so impressive this season, the Rebels have played only 1 complete 7 inning game in their 5 games. In fact, Silo has only played a total of 24.5 innings so far this season (out of 35 scheduled innings).
#3 Rattan Rams (A, 9-1) at #4 Wright City Lumberjax (A, 8-1), Friday, Noon
We try not to use teams twice in the GOTW, but when there is a 3 vs 4 matchup, it’s hard to pass up. This game is huge as it could go a long way in establishing who is the Class A favorite going forward.
