Back in the summer, the OSSAA and its members and coaches approved a new classification for the Fall season and adding an additional classification to both 2A and A in the Spring (2A-1, 2A-2; A-1, A-2).

The new ADM for this year was just approved late last week and the OSSAA released the official classes for this and next year’s Fall season.

Class 2A will have the top 16 teams while Class A will have the next 32. Class B will comprise of 60 schools.

Class 2A will consist of (in alphabetical order): Byng, Calera, Clayton/Buffalo Valley, Colbert, Dale, Haworth, Howe, Latta, OK Christian Academy, Oktaha, Preston, Riverside, Santa Fe South, Silo, Tushka, Vanoss.

Quick Reactions

  • Santa Fe South (5A), Byng (4A), Silo (3A) play in higher classes in the Spring
  • Half the 2023 Fall Class A State Tournament field (Dale, Preston, Oktaha, Silo) moved up to 2A
  • Combining Clayton and Buffalo Valley into 1 team put the normally Class A and B teams respectively in Class 2A. That kept Wister in Class A.
  • The Clayton/Buffalo Valley combination also means long time Class B power, Roff, moves up to Class A

We will try to get some coaches reactions to this news and post later.
