It’s the first weekend of the fall season and that means it is time for one of the best tournaments around – the Dale Invitational. This year’s tournament will mark a milestone as it is the 50th edition of the tournament.

The tournament consistently has some of the biggest names in the field, and once again this year’s tournament is a “Who’s Who” of some of the top teams from across the Sooner State.

This year’s field consists of eight teams which is down from ten in 2023. Not playing in this year’s tournament are Canute and Byng. That leaves a field of Dale, Oktaha, Latta, Ft Cobb-Broxton, Rattan, Roff, AmPo, and Tushka.

Here are some stats about this field from the previous (2023-2024) school year:

• There are five state champions: FCB (Fall, Spring), Oktaha (Spring), Rattan (Fall), AmPo (Spring)
• One state runner up: Tushka (Spring)
• Five teams made both the Fall and Spring state tournaments: Oktaha, Dale, FCB, Rattan, Roff
• The combined record of the eight team for both Fall and Spring of 2023-2024: 391-119

Schedule and Look at First Round Matchup

• Oktaha vs Latta: Oktaha is 0-1 coming off a run rule loss to Wright City on Monday; Latta is 1-0 beating Boswell 14-7 on Monday
• Dale vs FCB: This will be Dale’s first game in ’24. FCB is 0-1 losing to Navajo on Monday. Eli Willits has been with the U18 USA team. Will he be back this weekend?
• Rattan vs Roff: Rattan run ruled Smithville 10-0 to start the season and plays Tupelo on Tuesday night; Roff had their game vs Moss rained out on Monday
• AmPo vs Tushka: Perhaps the marquee matchup of the first round. These teams played in the Class A State Championship game in the Spring.
