Major League Baseball held it’s 2024 draft just a little over 2 weeks ago. A total of 28 players with ties to the Sooner State heard their name called over the 3 day event.

What you may not realize is that teams have until August 1 to sign their draftees. With it just one day away, I thought it’d be interesting to check in on what of our 28 players have signed, how much they signed for, and what that amount was compared to the slot value assigned to the overall draft pick they were picked.

Signings

Before we get started, it is noteworthy that only 1 player from Oklahoma has NOT signed with their team. Ryan Ure (OSU) has not signed his contract with San Francisco.

All 27 other players have signed their contracts and have already or are getting ready to get started with their organization.

We’ll list the players, their tie to Oklahoma, their team, the round they were drafted, and the amount they signed for compared to the slot value of their pick.

Reaction

We said on the first draft night that both Owen Hall and Payton Tolle made more money than they were expecting because they were picked higher than they were projected. They signed for a combined $3.75 million which his higher than it would’ve been if they were picked where they were projected.

What a great few weeks it has been for both Caden Powell and Twine Powell. The two JUCO products weren’t on any lists/rankings that I could find before the draft, but they both heard their name called by the Astros with Powell in the 6th round. Along with Tolle, Powell and Palmer are the only players on this list that signed for over their slot value.

You can see what players did not have any college eligibility left. Caden Favors, Sam Garcia, Nick Ackenhausen, Bryce Madron, and Michael Snyder all signing for WAY below their slot value with Snyder signing for only $17.5K compared to a slot value of $150K.
