It’s hard to believe that the 2024 Fall Baseball Season is almost upon us, but that is the case as August 12 is the official start of the regular season.

Here at Sooner State Baseball Report it is our goal to provide as much coverage as we can. One way we are trying to do that is preview as many teams as we can before the start of the season.

We’ve sent out a questionnaire to many of the teams that play fall ball in hope that they will give us an honest outlook on their upcoming season. We’ve had a few responses so far.

Today’s team: Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs

Class: B

Fall 2023 Record: 30-5 (Class B State Champions)

Spring 2023 Record: 24-6 (Class B State Champions)

Head Coach: Dale Bellamy

Head Coaching Experience: 15 (12 at Ft Cobb-Broxton

Returning Starters and Top Players

FCB returns six starters from last year with all of the infield positions coming back: Kaleb Gray (C), Mason Luecht (1B), Blaine Bellamy (2B), Kaleb Crowell (3B), and Eli Willits (SS). Tanner McAdoo is the lone returning outfielder.

Willits is one of the top overall players in the state at any level and is a top 10 national SS in the 2025 class. He recently was named to the USA U18 team to compete in the Baseball Americas World Cup Qualifier in Panama City, Panama.

Bellamy is a senior who along with playing 2B is one of the top pitchers for the Mustangs. He has tons of state tournament experience on the moung and has already won 5 games in the state tournament. Bellamy is also a key hitter in the middle of the Mustangs’ lineup.

McAdoo will be a 4 year started for the Mustangs and lead the outfield. He is a 2-hole hitter and has as much postseason experience as anyone on the team.

Outlook

Ft Cobb-Broxton will need to have a few players step up and fill some holes in the lineup this season. However, even with the players that will be getting more playing time than before, the expectations will be the same – high.

The Mustangs have won the last 4 Class B State Championships combined (Fall and Spring) and 5 since the Spring of 2021. With that comes tons of big game experience that no other team can compare. That experience includes 4 pitchers logging innings in the postseason including the State Tournament.

Once again FCB will be one of the favorites for the state title. The experience they have coming back, especially on the mound, will allow them to go deep into the postseason and even another possible state title.
