After we saw at least five prominent head coaches leave their jobs since the end of the 2024 season, another coach has resigned from his position.

Lincoln Dearing resigned from Bethel High School effective last week, SSBR has learned.

Dearing was at the helm of Bethel for seven years and the program saw several successful seasons while he was there. In 2022, the Wildcats made the state tournament for the first time since 2010. The Wildcats have had winning seasons the last three years including a Regional championship this past season before bowing out in the Areas round to Community Christian.

Dearing won his 100th game this year at Bethel finishing with a 101-84 record. He was the 2022 District 3A-3 Coach of the Year. Dearing also won a VYPE Coach of the Month in 2019.

Along with the success on the field, the Bethel program saw facility upgrades during Dearing’s tenure including the outside entrance to the ballpark.

Dearing indicated the decision to resign was both financial and family related. When asked what his future plans were, Dearing said he was, “exploring every option even if it’s not in coaching. I will choose whatever suits his family best.”

SSBR wishes Coach Dearing the best in his future endeavors.
