Fresh off their first trip to the state tournament since 2011 which saw them reach the championship game before falling 7-4 to Westmoore, former Sand Springs Head Coach Matt Brown has stepped down, leading to promotion from within for former assistant Scott Watkins.

Brown was hired by Sand Springs in 2019, quickly turning the Sandites into one of the top teams in 6A, hosting regionals in 2022 and 2023 before finally breaking through in 2024, winning Union’s regional and making a deep run in the state tournament.

New head coach Scott Watkins has been part of the Sand Springs coaching staff since 2004 when he returned to his alma mater after a successful collegiate and professional baseball career.

Watkins played for Oral Roberts, Seminole State, and Oklahoma State before a 10-year professional career, including time within the Twins, Royals, Rockies, Rangers, and Cubs organizations.
