The 2024 high school baseball postseason is in full swing this week, and the OSSAA released the regional bracket/assignments for Class 4A on Monday.
The Class 4A postseason will look different this year as it will go to a regional > area > state format as opposed to the bi-district into regional format in the past.
There are 55 teams that are grouped into 16 regionals this year so some will have 3 teams as opposed to the traditional 4 team format. The winners of the 16 regionals will advance to the Area round and be seeded 1-16 with #1 vs #16, #2 vs #15, etc in a double elimination format (think “Super Regionals” in the NCAA Tournament) with the 8 Area winners advancing to state and keeping those seeds.
Regionals are automatically scheduled to start on Thursday, but can start as early as Tuesday. With stormy weather in the region expected later this week, don’t be surprised if some regionals start earlier.
