When Sooner State Baseball Report started last year, we tried to find different and fun content about baseball in the Sooner State that we thought people would enjoy. One of the ways we did that was to start ranking the 30 different college teams in the state. And that’s how the Power 10 was “born.”

Each week until the postseason, we will rank what we think are the 10 best teams in the state relative to their level. We will look at the results of each team based on the level of their competition compared to the other teams in the state.

Does that mean if a junior college team is ranked ahead of an NCAA D1 team we think that JUCO would be the D1? No it doesn’t. But it does mean we think that the JUCO team is playing better than the D1 at their respective levels.

Here is where we think things stand right now (through games on Apr 15).

Please remember this is for fun and should be treated as such.

Power 10 Rankings

MACU (29-9, 15-3) stays at #1 for the 2nd consecutive week and actually strengthened their grip on the top spot. The Evangels hosted #17 MidAmerica Nazarene and swept the Pioneers. Isaac Baez was spectacular in his start in game 1 setting the tone for the series: (W) 7 IP, 6 H, ER, 2 K, 0 BB.

Western (31-11, 16-5) moves up two spots on the strength of sweeping Carl Albert State over the weekend. The Pioneers have won 11 of their last 12 games and sit atop the Region 2 standings.

Connors State (39-5, 14-5) also moved up two spots after going 4-0 last week with a win vs Carl Albert State and sweeping Eastern.

UCO (32-10, 18-9) drops a spot to #4 after a 2-1 series win over Rogers State. The Bronchos sit in 3rd place in the MIAA one game ahead of Pittsburg State and Washburn (who they play this weekend).

OK Wesleyan (30-13, 25-5) dropped a couple of spots this week after going 2-2 last week in conference games. The Eagles have fallen out of 1st in the KCAC a half game behind Kansas Wesleyan who they play this weekend.

Oklahoma State (25-11, 10-5) moves up to 6th this week after going 4-0 with a win at Wichita State and sweeping Cincinnati.

Seminole State (29-13, 13-5) debuts in the Power 10 for the first time this season while in the midst of a 12 game winning streak. The Trojans are only one game behind Connors State in the region standings as they play the Cowboys this weekend.

OCU (26-14, 12-6) won their series at USAO 2-1 this past weekend. The Stars sit in 2nd place in the SAC standings.

OU (21-14, 11-4) re-enters the Power 10 on the back of a 4-0 week that included a sweep over a bitter Kansas State team. The Sooners remain in a tie for 1st place in the Big 12 with West Virginia at 11-4 (WVA owns the tiebreaker over OU).

NOC Enid (29-15, 15-6) falls to #10 after a losing record last week. The strength of their previous performances and the fact they are 2nd in the region keeps them in the poll.

  • NOC Tonkawa (31-15, 12-9)
