It’s officially spring break across Oklahoma, which means high school teams are scattered across the country, and in a lot of cases had a 20-hour bus ride to Florida just to play other teams from Oklahoma but that’s a whole different story. It also means that we’re fully in the thick of the college season at all levels now, and there’s plenty of big game on deck for some of our colleges, so let’s take a look at some of the best.
Matchup of the week (College) – Oklahoma Wesleyan vs Tabor College
For our matchup of the week this week, we head to Hillsboro, Kansas where OK Wesleyan and Tabor College will be playing the rubber match of a conference series that began last Tuesday. A week ago, the two teams occupying the top two spots in the KCAC standings faced off in a doubleheader, splitting a pair of hard-fought games 9-7 and 7-6. This Tuesday, the Eagles will be looking to add some insurance to their current lead in the KCAC standings with a road win over a tough Tabor squad that has given their fair share of teams around Oklahoma trouble this season.
Top Sooner State Showdown (College) – NOC Enid vs Western Oklahoma State
Our in-state matchup takes us to Altus for a Region 2 matchup between NOC Enid and Western OK State. The Jets are off to a scorching start in Region 2 play, getting out an early lead in the standings with a 9-0 record against fellow Region 2 competition. The Pioneers are off to a strong start of their own and sit at 6-3 in-region, good for 5th in the standings for now. After a slow start to the season for reigning Region 2 champs Southern Arkansas, both of these squads will look to this series as a chance to solidify their spots as contenders to take the throne in 2024.
