With the college baseball season in full swing, we’ve got a few teams in the Sooner State on some impressive winning streaks.

1. Connors State Runs Their Record to 17-0

Winning your first 17 games in a row is impressive. However, when you realize that Connors State went 50-7 in 2023 and had winning streaks of 22 and 15 during the season it should be a surprise.

The Cowboys have been absolutely dominant so far this season and this past week was no different. This past week was a tougher week than they’ve had so far. On Thursday, CSC traveled to Poteau to take on a resurging Carl Albert State team and they won a close game 8-6. Connors then went to Mena, AR to take on UA Rich Mountain in a double header on Saturday. They blanked the Bucks 15-0 and 11-0.

It does get tougher for the Cowboys going forward as they start conference play Thursday and Saturday vs NEO.

2. Rogers State Stays Hot

The Hillcats started the season losing 2 games at the Dugan Invitational in Hot Springs, but they’ve won 7 in a row and 10 of their last 11 to run their record to 10-3.

During this 11 game stretch, the Hillcats have outscored their opponents 92-59. This past weekend, Rogers State didn’t score less than 10 runs scoring 10, 12, and 13.

Things get tough for the Hillcats this week as they face NWOSU on Tuesday and Ft Hays State ovner the weekend. Both teams have a record of 11-4 coming into the week.

3. OK Wesleyan and Southwestern Christian Each Sweep 3 Game Series

OKWU had a rough start to the season losing 5 out of their first 9 games (although 3 of them came at #1 Southeaster (FL)). They seem to have righted the ship the last 2 weeks going 5-1 in their first 2 weekends of conference play. This weekend they swept Friends University – a team that came into the week 10-3.

SCU swept Ecclesia this past weekend running their current winning streak to 6 games. The Eagles was sitting at 5-4 on the season before the streak. They seem to be ready to go as Sooner Athletic Conference play starts this week.

4. Murray State Getting Back on Track

Looking at the Aggies’ current record of 10-6, one might think Murray State is not having the season they are accustomed to lately. When one looks at their schedule and see that the Aggies are on a 5 game winning streak, one would realize the 10-6 record isn’t a bad one.

The Aggies started the season playing Texas traditional powers Grayson CC and Navarro. Then MSC played a double header at Connors State. They also played a 3 game set at #3 Pearl River CC.

This past week Murray State swept a double header vs NE Texas CC and a 3 game series vs Arkansas St Three Rivers.

After a game vs Dallas College Richland, MSC starts Region 2 play at fellow power Western OK State.

5. The OSSAA Season Starts This Coming Friday

Usually in “Five Things” we look back on what happened. This week we look forward as the high school season will officially get started on Friday. We will have 2 months of wall to wall high school baseball across 7 classes to pay attention to along with the college baseball.

BUCKLE. UP.
