Season Outlook
OBU is quietly one of the best baseball programs in the state of Okahoma. Just in the last 10 years, they’ve been to 2 NAIA National Tournaments (2014, 2015), won 2 NCCAA National Championships when they were ineligible for the NCAA D2 postseason during their transition (2017, 2018), and 1 GAC Tournament title and NCAA D2 Regional appearance (2019).
In 2023, the Bison were 1 game away from winning the GAC Conference Tournament and qualifying for the NCAA D2 Central Regional.
This year’s Bison squad look to make it back to the GAC Conference Tournament, winning the tournament, and qualify for the Central Regional for the first time since 2019.
Coach Cox says the Bison are a “deep club position wise that has the ability to produce runs in multiple ways.” The are also “athletic defensively,” with a “lot of experience returning on the mound that logged major innings last year.”
Cox also says he is “excited about this group and the opportunities that are ahead of the. They have a great work ethic and are a pleasure to be around everyday.”
OBU is the highest rated Oklahoma team in the GAC preseason poll at #4, but look for them to contend for both the regular season and conference tournament titles in the always tough GAC.
