Season Outlook

It is safe to say that Murray State is one of the best programs in the country. They were in the NJCAA D2 World Series just 2 seasons ago and won the national title as recently as 2013. The Aggies spent most of the season last year ranked in the top 20 with reaching as high at #5.

It is because of that history that expectations are high in Tishomingo. It isn’t any different in 2024 as Head Coach, Sam Bjorling says, “It is our goal every year in this program to get to the World Series and compete for a national title.”

Looking at what the Aggies have coming back and coming in, it is easy to think that they will have a legitimate chance to do that. Wilbert Espinal is a All American type player that anchors the lineup. Trace Necessary and Gage Gilchrist return to provide even more production to the Aggies.

On the pitching side, gone is Colby Langford, but the pitching staff looks even more loaded this year. Several guys look have the potential to provide innings as a starter and MSC has at least 2 pitchers that can shut down teams at the end of the games.

Murray State looks to get back to the NJCAA D2 World Series in 2024 and if everyone can stay healthy, the national title is something the Aggies can achieve in 2024.
