The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Conference released it’s preseason poll today and it put the 3 Oklahoma schools in the middle of the pack. Leading the way was UCO coming in at #5 followed by Northeastern State at #6, and Rogers State #7.

Central Missouri came in at #1 with 120 points and 10 1st place votes. Missouri Southern came in at #2 (105/1) and Pittsburg State (103/1) at #3.

While UCO came in at #5, they are only 1 point behind #4 Washburn with the Icabods coming in at 89 points vs 88.

Northeastern St had 61 points while Rogers State garnered 56.

2023 Results

It is important to note that the top 8 schools in the regular season standings qualify for the MIAA Conference Tournament. The winner of that tournament automatically qualifies for an NCAA D2 Regional while others can receive an at-large bid. So the coaches do think high enough of the 3 Oklahoma schools that they should qualify for the conference tournament.

In 2023, all 3 schools qualified for the first round of the conference tournament. The 1st round consists of a best of 3 series between 1st place/8th place, 2nd/7th, 3/6th, 4th/5th. UCO finished 5th and Rogers 8th, but they both lost their respective series. NSU finished 6th and won their series against Washburn qualifying them for the 4 team double elimination where they finished 3rd overall in the tournament.

The season kicks off the weekend of February 1st. UCO will host the UCO Festival while NSU and Rogers St will play in the Dugan Invitational in Hot Springs, AR.
