The final rankings before Districts start this week have just been released. These will be a factor in determining the seeding for the teams that make it to Regionals after this week.

Without any further ado, let’s take a look and “discuss” shall we?

Class A

  • Oktaha suffered their first loss last week at the hands of Silo, but it didn’t change anything to their standing. They still received all the 1st place votes they can.
  • Two less coaches voted this week. Weird. Oh well.
  • The biggest mover this week in the positive direction is Preston. They moved up 2 spots from #9 to #7 leap frogging Tushka.
  • The biggest mover this week in wrong direction is AmPo. They fell 3 spots from #7 to #10. This could cost them hosting a potential regional.
  • The more I try to figure things out, the more I give myself a headache. How is Wister still ranked above Rattan. Yes, I know Wister beat the Rams head to head on August 17, but since then Wister is 15-4 while Rattan is 14-1. Rattan just won a tournament that both teams were in run ruling the team (#4 Wright City) that kept Wister out of the finals. Go figure
  • If everything goes “chalk” in Districts and the OSSAA seeds the Regionals as they are ranked, the Regionals should look something like this: 1) Oktaha, Tushka, Okarche, Navajo; 2) Wister, Preston, AmPo, Ripley; 3) Rattan, Dale, Byng, Arapaho-Butler; 4) Wright City, Silo, Sterling, Latta.
  • Talk about some good ball.

Class B

  • Three less coaches voted this week as opposed to last week
  • Despite a loss last week, Ft Cobb-Broxton remains #1.
  • Calumet picked up a 1st place vote while Tupelo lost 3.
  • Biggest mover upward was Battiest (#20 to #18).
  • Biggest mover downward was Moss (#16 to #19).
  • Asher and Mulhall-Orlando switched spots.
  • Wapanucka makes it’s debut in the rankings at #20.
  • If everything goes “chalk” in Districts, and the OSSAA seeds the Regionals like they are ranked then the Regionals will look like this: 1) FCB, Granite, Mulhall-Orlando, Achille; 2) Calumet, Hammon, Asher, Big Pasture; 3) Tupelo, Kiowa, Mill Creek, Boswell; 4) Stuart, Caney, Roff, Leedey.
