It’s hard to believe that we are only 1 week away from the postseason with Districts starting next week. That’s what makes the weekly OSSAA rankings that much more important. While the seeding for Regional isn’t set until after Districts are done, the rankings are used as a “guide” to seed the remaining 16 teams in each class.

*It’s important to note that while the vote may have been before Monday’s games, the rankings weren’t released until after most of Monday’s games were completed and the records listed reflect that.

Here are the rankings for 9/11/23. Let’s take a look …

Class A

• Wright City is the biggest mover in this week’s poll moving up from #9 to #4. In a week where the Lumberjax went 3-1, it included a win over top ten Tushka and a run rule win over #5 Silo in the 3rd place game in the Silo Tournament.
• AmPo is the biggest mover in the wrong direction falling to #7 from #4. The Panthers went 2-3 last week losing to Sterling, (B) #1 Ft Cobb-Broxton and (B) #2 Calumet.
• Preston dropped from #7 to #9 after losing to #15 Ripley in the finals of the Stuart Tournament.
• Red Oak makes it’s debut in the rankings at #20. The Eagles are 6-3 in their last 9 games.
• There is an established gap between the top 10 and the next ten with 143 points (579-436) between #10 Okarche and #11 Sterling.

Class B

• Five less coaches voted in this week’s poll. That probably explains the fewer #1 votes for both Ft Cobb-Broxton and Calumet.
• Roff is the biggest mover going from #15 to #12. The Tigers have won 6 of their last 7 games.
• Asher also moved multiple spots going from #11 to #9.
• Leflore (#19) and Battiest (#20) make their debuts in the rankings.
