The weekly rankings for that the OSSAA puts out were delayed a day this week due to the Labor Day Holiday.
Let’s take a look at what they look like this week.
Class A

- Last week, I was reminded that no team will ever be a unanimous #1 because coaches can’t vote for themselves, so “my bad” griping about Wister receiving a 1st place vote.
- Having said that, it looks like the coach that was voting Navajo #1 has now switched it to Rattan. Nothing against the Rams (I actually thing they’re #2 in Class A at this point), but Oktaha did beat them head to head. Call me crazy, but that should mean something.
- The biggest mover in the positive direction is Arapaho-Butler. After debuting in the top 20 last week at #18, they moved up 3 spots to #15 this week.
- The biggest mover in the wrong direction is Dale. The Pirates dropped 3 spots to #6. Dale is 3-4 in their last 7 games.
- Tushka and Wright City switched spots with the Tigers at #8 and the Lumberjax at #9. That’s good because Tushka beat Wright City head to head last week.
- What does Okarche have to do to move up? They beat #5 AmPo, (B) #8 Granite, and (B) #2 last week going 3-0.
- Speaking of AmPo, how does a team go 4-3 and stay at #4? I like the Panthers as a legit state tournament contender, but????
Having said all that, Oktaha is still clearly the #1 team. Rattan and Wister are the next level. After that, even though Tushka is on the best run of the remaining teams, they and probably through Arapaho-Butler at #15 could beat each other in a one game situation.
Class B

- 19 of the teams are the same as last week with Buffalo Valley debuting at #20.
- Moss is the only team to move multiple places (either way) as they improved 2 spots to #18.
- The only other changes are Boswell (#12) changing places with Big Pasture (#13) and Roff (#15) changing places with Leedey (#16).
- With a perfect week last week and winning the Hydro-Eakly Labor Day Tournament, Ft Cobb-Broxton received 4 more 1st place votes than week 2.
- Both Calumet and Stuart dropped form the ranks of the undefeated.
- Tupelo also lost but gained 3 – 1st place votes. *shrug*
At this point in the season, FCB and Calumet have separated themselves from the rest of the field. Tupelo is next with Stuart and Caney not far behind. After that, it truly is a crap shoot at this point.
