This week marks the halfway point of the fall high school baseball regular season. What a better way to use the holiday weekend to have just about every top team in the western half of the state play a huge double elimination tournament?
That is what we’ve got this weekend as Hydro-Eakly hosts it’s annual Labor Day Tournament. Some of the top teams from the west include Dale (yes, I know it is east of I-35), Ft Cobb-Broxton, AmPo, Sterling, Navajo, Sentinel, and Arapaho-Butler among others.
The tournament will have 14 teams total and will be played at 2 sites: Hydro-Eakly and Eagle Field in Weatherford. It will be played over 5 days (Thurs-Mon) with Sunday being an off day. It is a double elimination format until the championship game so a team can theoretically play 8 games in those 4 days of play.
Needless to say, whatever teams wins this tournament (or finishes in the top 3), should feel pretty good about themselves going into the last half of the fall season.

Bracket

Bracket Breakdown
- Dale is the favorite in the top half of the bracket
- The potential matchup of Sterling and Sentinel in the 2nd round is a good one. They played last week and after Sterling jumped out to a big lead, Sentinel came back to make it a game.
- Ft Cobb-Broxton is the favorite in the bottom half of the bracket.
- AmPo is a real threat to come out of the bottom half.
- Potential matchup of AmPo and Navajo in the 2nd round is intriguing.
- Don’t count out Arapaho-Butler from making a run. They won their own tournament last week beating Wright City and Sterling in the semis and finals.
- Hard to not see a Dale / FCB winner’s bracket final (a rematch of a 1 run game at the Dale Invitational in week 1). Winner should have advantage in championship game.
