Of the many tournaments being played this weekend, the Okarche/AmPo Invitational could, low key, be the best one field wise. There are 9 teams in the field, with 5 of them ranked in the top 20 of their respective classes. Those 5 teams have a combined record of 39-11. Not bad.

Bracket

Breaking Down the Bracket

As you can see, the top half of the bracket is played at Okarche while the bottom half at AmPo (all 4 games on Saturday are at Okarche).

The top 2 teams in the top half are definitely Okarche and Calumet. Union City could give Okarche a game (assuming they get passed Verden), but Okarche has been a little better up to this point. Calumet is a state tournament contender in Class B.

In the bottom half the favorite has to be AmPo. Their 2 losses this year are to Class B #1 and SSBR #3 Ft Cobb-Broxton and Class A #3 Rattan (who they beat the day before). The Granite/Ripley game is a good matchup and the winner could give AmPo a game in the semis.

It’s SSBR’s policy to not pick the winners of high school tournaments, but I think it is safe to say that we are looking at a final of AmPo vs either Calumet or Okarche.
