The Arapaho-Butler Classic may not have all of the “big” names in it, but when you break it down, the 2023 edition has a sneaky good field.

It has traditionally good team, Sterling, in the bracket, and Wright City is making the almost 300 mile trek to play.

Also joining the field are a pair of 1 loss teams – Sentinel and Navajo.

Bracket

Breaking Down the Bracket

The first thing that jumps out is the first round matchup between Sentinel and Navajo. Both of these teams come into the tournament with only 1 loss. Sentinel does have home field advantage since 3 of Thursday’s games will be played at Sentinel including this one.

Sterling should face Big Pasture. It will be the 3 time these 2 teams would face each other in 6 days with the Tigers winning the previous 2 meetings handily.

On the bottom half of the bracket, Wright City should come out of it. Arapaho-Butler could give them a game in the semis, but the Lumberjax are one of the upper tier teams in Class A even though they are coming off an extra inning loss to Tushka on Tuesday.

We’re not into predicting tournament champions at the high school level at SSBR, but it is hard not to see Wright City in the finals. Their opponent is a little harder to predict as I can see Sterling, Sentinel, or Navajo making the finals with the other 2 teams meeting in the 3rd place game.
