Ever since the 2023-2024 Board Approved ADM numbers have been released, every sport besides football have been waiting to see what district they’d be assigned to. (The ADM numbers are the enrollment figures the OSSAA use to group schools into classes.) It was easy to see that some schools would move up a class (ex. Piedmont from 5A to 6A), and some would move down (ex. Midwest City 6A to 5A).

On Wednesday, the OSSAA released the district assignments including baseball.

Below are the assignments for Classes 6A-3A.

Class 6A

What jumps out is the fact that both Bishop Kelley and Piedmont moved up from 5A to 6A. Both Piedmont and Bishop Kelley were state tournament teams in 2023 with Bishop Kelley a state finalist.

Not only did Piedmont and Bishop Kelley move up a class, they are in possibly the toughest district. District 4 has the 2023 State Champ, Bixby, along with Union who was the district champ last year, Enid was the state runner up, and Broken Arrow was a top team most of 2023 and is a traditional top team.

Class 5A

With Piedmont and Bishop Kelley moving up, Midwest City and Tahlequah move down to 5A.

The reshuffling of districts, District 1 stands out. 2023 State Champ, Carl Albert leads the way, but they have Guthrie, Noble, and Shawnee to challenge.

Class 4A

Defending State Champ, Tuttle, will see some different teams in their district. Seeing the matchup against Chickasha who was a top team in 4A last year is intriguing.

Bishop McGuinness moves down from 5A, but they will have some long road trips in their district as Kingfisher is the closest team.

Class 3A

Mount St Mary almost made the state tournament in 4A last year, so it’ll be interesting to see how they do in 3A.

That matchup between Washington and Lone Grove in District 1 could be one of the best in the state.
