It’s hard to believe, but the 2026 college baseball season is now on the back half of the season. For some of our teams in the Sooner State, the postseason starts in just a little over 2 weeks. That means there is no better time to check out where our teams stand in their respective conferences.

Sooner Athletic Conference (NAIA)

Let’s first take a look at the Sooner Athletic Conference at the NAIA level. It has only 2 weeks left of conference play.

With the College of the Ozarks entering the league in 2025, the conference is now a 2 automatic bid league to the NAIA Opening Round (national tournament). The winner of the regular season gets the 1st auto bid with the winner of the SAC Tournament getting the 2nd (unless the tournament winner is the same team that won the regular season which in that case it goes to the tournament runner up).

The SAC Tournament takes the top 8 teams. The teams that finish 1-4 will host a best of 3 series vs teams 5-8 (1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5). The 4 winners will then play a double elimination bracket the following week.

With 2 weeks to go in regular season play, the top 8 teams have clinched their spots as Southwestern Christian and OK Panhandle State cannot make up the distance to finish in the top 8.

  • MACU is the team in the best position. They currently sit tied for 1st place with Texas Wesleyan. The Evangels swept the Rams in their series so that means if MACU finishes tied for 1st with TWU, they will get the nod for the auto bid (although they’d like to just win it outright). MACU has series at OPSU and at home vs USAO left.
  • OCU sits in a tie for 5th. They could mathematically still win the conference, but the odds are razor thin. However, they could still finish as high as 3rd. The Stars have series wins over both Central Christian and Wayland Baptist with series vs USAO and the College of the Ozarks left.
  • USAO is in a tie for 7th with Nelson. They are in pretty much the same situation as OCU. Their series this weekend with the Stars will go a long way into where these 2 teams will finish. Unfortunately for the Drovers, the only team in the top 8 they have won a series from at this point is Nelson.

Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NCAA D2)

The MIAA Standings show the team in Oklahoma that is in the best spot at this point. Rogers State sits atop the standings alone 2.5 games ahead of NW Missouri State.

The MIAA takes the top 10 teams from the conference to the MIAA Tournament. Seeds 7 & 10 play a play in game while seeds 8 & 9 play one as well. From there it is a singe elimination bracket with the winner getting the automatic bid.

  • As stated above, Rogers State is in a good spot. They are 2.5 games ahead of 2nd place at this point. They won their series last week at Central Missouri. The Hillcats have a tough schedule left over the next 4 weeks. They host NW Missouri State this weekend then they host Washburn the next. The last 2 weekends they are at Pittsburg St and Missouri Western. They also have lone games against UCO and UA Fort Smith mixed in.
  • UCO and Northeastern State are tied for 9th at this point occupying seeds 9 and 10. They are both 3 games ahead of in the loss column over Fort Hays State which is good. The Bronchos have an opportunity to make a move over the next 2 weekends as they are at Newman and host UA Fort Smith the next. They do finish with Central Missouri and NW Missouri State. The Riverhawks have Central Missouri and NW Missouri State the next 2 weekends before finishing with Fort Hays State and Emporia State. The Bronchos and Riverhawks still have a game against each other, but NSU has already won the first 2 games and have clinched the season series.

Great American Conference (NCAA D2)

The GAC takes 8 teams from the 12 in the conference to the GAC Tournament. Like the SAC in the NAIA, teams 1-4 host best of 3 series with teams 5-8 with the winners playing a 4 team double elimination bracket the next week.

There are 3 weeks to go in the regular season and at this point, 4 Oklahoma schools have a chance to make the GAC Tournament. At this point, it is too difficult to figure out the tiebreaker scenarios, so we’ll show where the teams are at and who they have left to play

  • Southeastern OK State is the top OK team sitting in 5th place alone. The Savage Storm lost their series with NWOSU and OBU. They have series with 1st place Arkansas-Monticello, 3rd place Southern Arkansas, and East Central left.
  • East Central is the “surprise” team in the standings. After languishing near the bottom of the standings the last several years, the Tigers have won their last 6 GAC games and sit in a tie for 6th. ECU swept Henderson State so they have that tiebreaker. They also have the same teams that SE does left as they play each other the last series of the season.
  • OBU and NWOSU are tied with Ouachita Baptist for the 8th spot. The Bison lost their series with NWOSU and Ouachita so they can’t tie either team. NWOSU hosts Ouachita next weekend after traveling to Henderson State this weekend. The Rangers finish with Southwestern OK State.

Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (NAIA)

OK Wesleyan is the only team from Oklahoma in this league. Like the SAC, the KCAC is a 2 auto bid conference – regular season and KCAC Tournament champions.

OKWU sits in 3rd at the moment by percentage points behind Ottawa, but the Eagles swept the Braves last week so they have that tiebreaker. The Eagles are off conference wise this weekend, but they have lone games vs Southwestern College and Evangel left along with series against Avila and Sterling. The schedule is favorable for the Eagles on paper, but they’d have to finish at least a game ahead of Kansas Wesleyan as they lost their series with the Coyotes.

Region 2 (NJCAA D1)

We are half way through the season for our Division 1 schools. All 5 teams make the Region tournament. Seminole State has played only 12 games compared to the other teams’ 15 so the Trojans have to play all 4 teams left.

Region 2 (Division 2)

  • Murray State and Western sit tied in 1st 6 games ahead of Redlands. They just split their series and to be honest, I’m not sure what the tiebreaker is after that. The Aggies have series with Redlands and NOC Tonkawa left. The Pioneers have series with NOC Enid and UA Rich Mountain left.
  • Redlands has UA Rich Mountain, Murray State, and Carl Albert State. They have the tiebreaker with NOC Tonkawa
  • NOC Enid has Western, Carl Albert State, and UA Rich Mountain left
  • Carl Albert State has Tonkawa, Enid, and Redlands left
  • NOC Tonkawa has Carl Albert State and Murray State left.

Lone Star Conference (NCAA D2)

The LSC takes the top 7 (weird) to their LSC Tournament. Cameron sits in 9th place 5 games behind 7th place so a whole lot of things have to go right for the Aggies for them to make it. They have St Mary’s, Lubbock Christian, and Angelo State left.
