The 2026 season is here and so are the weekly SSBR awards. In 2024 we began bringing attention to individual performances turned in by those on small college (NCAA D2, NAIA, NCCAA) teams and junior colleges.
Each week we send out nomination forms to the head coaches of each team in the various divisions above. We ask them to nominate only 1 position player and 1 pitcher with their stats for the week and any context they feel would help their player. We look at those nominations and choose the player or pitcher in each category that we feel had the best week. Also, each player or pitcher nominated will get recognized even if they don’t win.
Below you will see the winners for Small College (NCAA D2, NAIA, NCCAA) and JUCO.
Let’s take a look at the winners for Week 5 (Mar 9-Mar 15).
Small College
Player of the Week
Jett Milsap, Randall University

Randall has quietly made a turn around this season. Under new head coach, Joe Adair, the Saints have already won 12 games in 2026 where they had won 17 combined the last 3 years. In their conference, the Saints have a 6-2 record.
A big reason for that is the play of Jett Milsap. The sophomore from Kileen, TX has slashed .398/.459/.614. In conference play, he’s done even better with a .471/.514/.765 slash line.
This past week, Milsap was even better. He slashed .556/.600/1.000 with 2 HR, 7 RBI, 2 2B, and 6 R.
Other nominees:
- Corey Morro, USAO
- Chance Pair, Northeastern State
Pitcher of the Week
Fabian Hernandez, MACU

Last week, we said, “Hernandez is no stranger to this award, but it is his first for 2026.” Well, Fabian didn’t wait too long to get his 2nd award for the 2026 season.
Hernandez got the start for game 2 vs College of the Ozarks with a chance to lead the Evangels to a series clinching win. He was dominant in his performance as he went a complete game, 7 inning shutout. He gave up only 4 hits and 2 walks against 10 Ks.
Other nominees:
– N/A
Junior College
Player of the Week
Colton Rother, Western OK State

It may be the first SSBR Player of the Week win for Rother, but it isn’t the first time we’ve seen his name as a nominee.
Western had surged the last few weeks and they’ve started Region 2 play 7-1 and lead the West Division by a game over Murray State.
In the 4 game series vs Redlands, the Freshman from Cache was a one man wrecking crew with a .769/.833/1.769 slash line with 3 bombs, 10 RBI, 4 2B, 5 BB, 7 R, and 2 SB
Other nominees:
- N/A
Pitcher of the Week
Jaxon Spangler, Carl Albert State

After losing their first 2 games of their series at Murray State, the Vikings needed a win (or two) on Saturday. Jaxon Spangler gave them the opportunity to do just that in game 1 on Saturday.
While he didn’t pick up the W, Spangler kept the Vikings in the game which they eventually won in the 9th.
Spangler’s line:
– 7 IP, 3 H, ER, 0 BB, 7 K
Other nominees:
– Jeylem Sepulveda, Western OK State
