When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.

As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS, and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed. OK Wesleyan took the top spot in 2025 after winning the KCAC regular season title as well as finishing #11 in the final NAIA poll.

The previous 3 seasons’ polls were done by a single person, but in 2025 there is a panel. Each member ranks their top 10 and the points are added up to get the poll for that week.

Please note that OU, OSU, and ORU are now eligible since their seasons started this weekend.

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

1. Oklahoma Sooners (NCAA D1), 17-3; Prev 1

The Sooners keep hold of the top spot in this week’s rankings after going 3-1 last week. They beat a sneaky good UT Arlington team on Tuesday before taking 2 of 3 against Texas A&M in the opening SEC series.

OU won 2, 1 run ball games on Friday and Sunday. On Friday, they overcame deficits of 4 and 3 to pull ahead in the 8th. On Sunday, they blew their game long lead in the 8th, but scored a run to hold on in the 9th.

This week: Tues at Southern Louisiana; Thurs-Sat at LSU

2. Rogers State Hillcats (NCAA D2), 20-3; Prev 3

The Hillcats are riding a 12 game winning streak and have looked impressive doing so. RSU has a lineup full of guys that take turns providing the production and is proving to be a deep lineup.

They are at the top of the MIAA standings by percentage points at 8-1.

This week: Tues vs UCO at Bricktown Ballpark; Fri-Sun at Newman

3. Connors State Cowboys (NJCAA D1), 23-6; Prev 2

The Cowboys come in at the 3rd spot this week after going 2-2 last week. They lost on the road at Crowder before going 2-1 against Eastern over the weekend.

They get the nod here based on their series win over Murray State last month, but…

This week: Thur: vs Seminole State; Sat: at Seminole State (DH)

4. Murray State Aggies (NJCAA D2), 20-6; Prev 4

Murray State has the 2nd longest current winning streak in the state at 7. They went 5-0 last week including a 4 game sweep over NOC Enid to start Region 2 play.

This week: Thurs vs Carl Albert State (DH); Sat: at Carl Albert State (DH)

5. Seminole State Trojans (NJCAA D2), 19-6; Prev 5

Seminole State remains in the 5th spot this week after going 3-1 last week. The Trojans beat Cowley County on Monday before winning their Region 2 series with NEO, 2-1.

This week: Thur: at Connors State; Sat: vs Connors State (DH)

6. MACU Evangels (NAIA), 18-7; Prev 8

MACU rises 2 spots after a 3-0 week. After losing their SAC series vs Nelson the week prior, the Evangels handled business against OCU sweeping the Stars.

The Evangels are tied with Texas Wesleyan atop the SAC standings and are 2 clear of the next team(s). MACU holds the tiebreaker over the Rams based on their series sweep of TWU earlier this season.

This week: Tues: vs Hesston; Fri-Sat: vs College of the Ozarks (3 games)

7. Southeastern OK State Savage Storm (NCAA D2), 15-9; Prev 10

If it wasn’t for Rogers State, the Savage Storm would be the most pleasant surprise at this point in the season. After starting the season 2-3 after 5 games, SEOSU has gone 13-6 since.

The Savage Storm has been really good in their conference. They’ve won 4 of 5 series and are 10-5 in GAC play and sit in 3rd place just 2 games out of 1st.

This week: Fri-Sun at Henderson State (3 games)

8. NOC Enid Jets (NJCAA D2), 20-9; Prev 7

The Jets only slide one spot despite losing 4 games last week. The Jets got swept by Murray State to open Region 2 play, but they had won 12 straight before that.

This week: Thurs: at NOC Tonkawa (DH); Sat vs NOC Tonkawa (DH)

9. Western OK State Pioneers (NJCAA D2), 19-7; Prev NR

Western reenters the Power 10 after being out the last several weeks. The Pioneers are 11-2 in their last 13 games and swept NOC Tonkawa to start Region 2 play last week.

This week: Thurs: vs Redlands CC (DH); Sat: at Redlands CC (DH)

10. OK Wesleyan Eagles (NAIA), 17-11; Prev 9

After a good start to the season including 2 road wins at Southeastern (FL), the Eagles have been treading water lately. While the Eagles have put up a ton of runs offensively, they’ve also given up a ton of runs.

The good news is they are still in 4th place in the KCAC, but they play only one of the teams ahead of them the rest of the way which happens to be this week.

This week: Fri-Sat: vs McPherson (3 games)

Dropped Out: Oklahoma State Cowboys, Prev 6
