When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best high school team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR Dominant Dozen.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the lower classes are better than say the top 6A teams? Maybe, maybe not. Most of the top upper class teams have more depth than the lower class teams and they would most likely win a series with them. But relative to their level, those lower class teams may be having a better season than the upper class teams.

It is not an exact science, but when we do the rankings we look at a number of factors. Win/loss record. How is that team doing against their own class? How did they do versus teams in classifications higher than theirs? District play for 3A-6A teams. Head to head.

Using those factors we rank the teams based on how they are doing relative to their level. We have a panel in 2026 and the rankings points are then compiled to form the rankings.

As a reminder, our first two Dominant Dozen champs were Tuttle (4A) in 2023, Oktaha (2A) in 2024, and our first Sweet Sixteen champ was Blanchard (4A) in 2025.

*The Rankings last year year expanded to 16, thus the “Sweet Sixteen.”

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

Let’s take a look at the rankings for the first poll.

Teams have to have played a game to be eligible.

1. Bishop Kelley Comets (5A), 7-0

The Comets move into the top spot after Tuttle loses in run rule fashion this past week. That is not to say BK didn’t have a good week. They went 4-0 while beating Carl Albert at the Collinsville Festival.

This week: Fri: vs Mustang and Westmoore at Edmond Spring Break Festival; Sat: vs Deer Creek at Edmond Spring Break Festival

2. Edmond Memorial Bulldogs (6A), 5-1

The Bulldogs has a quiet week beating Putnam City West in a double header on Monday.

They have a busy week ahead as they host the Edmond Spring Break Festival.

This week: Thu: vs Skutt Catholic; Fri: vs #14 Canute, Chaminade; Sat: vs St Thomas Aquinas

3. Mount St Mary Rockets (4A), 5-1

It’s not often a team loses a game during the week and moves up, but that is what the Rockets did. Sandwiched around a tight loss at 6A Westmoore, MSM run ruled then #6 Heritage Hall in District play and another run rule loss at then #1 Tuttle on Friday.

That win at Tuttle puts MSM in the conversation as one of the favorites in 4A.

This week: Mon: vs Weatherford (DH); Thurs-Sat at Coach Bob Invitational (AZ)

4. Marlow Outlaws (3A), 6-0

Marlow moves up the rankings this week after going 4-0 last week. Included in those wins were W’s at Moore and at home vs Westmoore (who had just beaten Mount St Mary the night before).

This week: Mon-Wed at Southeast Shootout; Sat: at Wichita Falls Memorial

5. Tuttle Tigers (4A), 7-1

Perhaps the biggest surprise this past week was not necessarily that Tuttle lost to Mount St Mary, but it was the way they lost. The Rockets came into Tuttle on Friday and never trailed and scored 7 runs in the 5th inning to run rule the Tigers.

But as the Tuttle social media page said, “That’s baseball.”

The Tigers were impressive the rest of the week including a 10-3 win at Chickasha and a 16-0 win vs Elk City.

This week: Tuttle Spring Break Festival; Thurs: vs MacArthur & Weatherford; Sat vs Oologah

6 (tie). Washington Warriors (3A), 9-1

The Warriors had an impressive week as they went 5-0 including wins over Blanchard (9-1), Ft Cobb-Broxton (5-3), and North Rock Creek (5-4). The other 2 wins were vs Millwood by a combined 25-0.

This week: Mon-Thurs at Gulf Coast Classic

6 (tie). Newcastle Racers (5A), 7-1

The Racers still haven’t lost to a team from Oklahoma as they go 4-0 last week beating Del City twice then at Elk City (21-8) and at Noble (12-2)

This week: at Tuttle Sping Break Festival (Chickasha, Collinsville, Weatherford)

8. Jenks Trojans (6A), 6-0

Jenks is one of only 2 6A teams still undefeated with Broken Arrow the other. The Trojans handled Sapulpa twice in District play then hosted a good Berryhill team shutting them out, 6-0.

This week: Wed: at Fayetteville (AR); Thur: at Rogers (AR); Fri: at Bentonville West (AR)
