When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.

As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS, and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed. OK Wesleyan took the top spot in 2025 after winning the KCAC regular season title as well as finishing #11 in the final NAIA poll.

The previous 3 seasons’ polls were done by a single person, but in 2025 there is a panel. Each member ranks their top 10 and the points are added up to get the poll for that week.

Please note that OU, OSU, and ORU are now eligible since their seasons started this weekend.

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

1. Oklahoma Sooners (NCAA D1), 10-2; Prev 1

After being dominant the first 2 week of the season, the Sooners had a couple of hiccups this past week. In a 2 game set with Arizona State, the Sooners got dominated by the Sun Devils in the first game only to come back and walk it off in the 9th of the 2nd game. After dominating Gonzaga the first 2 games of their series, the Zags blew open a 1 run game in the 9th to beat the Sooners.

OU still has the best win of the season dominating then #10 TCU in Arlington and their run rule win over OSU is looking better and better as the Cowboys are coming back to form.

This week: Tues vs DBU; Thurs-Sun vs Santa Clara

2. Connors State Cowboys (NJCAA D1), 18-3; Prev 3

The Cowboys went 3-1 last week. After beating ASU Mountain Home convincingly on Monday, Connors State opened their Region season vs NEO. After dropping game 1 of the series, the Cowboys swept Saturday’s double header scoring 25 combined runs.

This week: Tues vs Redlands CC; Thurs-Sat vs Rose State

3. MACU Evangels (NAIA), 14-5; Prev 5

The Evangels had the most impressive week of any team in the state going 4-0. After gutting out a 1-0 win over Friends on Tuesday, the Evangels went to Ft Worth to take on Texas Wesleyan. MACU proceeded to sweep the #18 team in the country and one that was 18-1 coming into the series.

This week: Wed vs Hastings; Fri-Sat vs Nelson

4. OK Wesleyan Eagles (NAIA), 13-7; Prev 2

As good of a week that MACU had, OK Wesleyan had the opposite. The Eagles went 1-3 last week losing 20-10 at OCU on Tuesday before dropping their series vs Tabor, 2-1.

OKWU has a chance to get back on track this week playing 4 KCAC games: Tuesday vs Southwestern then at nationally ranked Kansas Wesleyan.

This week: Tues vs Southwestern; Fri-Sat at Kansas Wesleyan

5 (tie). Rogers State Hillcats (NCAA D2), 12-3; Prev #7

Rogers State is quietly having the best season of the 11 D2 teams in the state. The Hillcats swept their series at Fort Hays State to move to 5-1 in the MIAA good enough to sit in 3rd place behind top 10 Pittsburg State and Central Missouri.

This week: Fri-Sat vs Minnesota Duluth (4 games)

5 (tie). Murray State Aggies (NJCAA D2), 13-6; Prev #6

Murray State almost had the best week of any team. The Aggies went to LSU Eunice for the 2nd time this season. MSC won the first 2 games against the D1 #10 Bengals before dropping the last game. The Aggies are 3-3 against the Bengals on the season and are LSUE’s only 3 blemishes on their 14-3 season.

This week: Wed vs North Central Texas College (DH); Sat at NCTC (DH)

7. UCO Bronchos (NCAA D2), 10-7; Prev 3

The Bronchos dropped 3 of 4 games last week losing to upstart Southeastern OK State in the midweek and dropping 2 of 3 at Missouri Western in their MIAA opening series.

Good time for the Chos to get back on track this week hosting Washburn.

This week: Fri-Sun vs Washburn

8. Seminole State Trojans (NJCAA D1), 12-4; Prev 9

Seminole State currently hold the longest winning streak of the state at 9. They swept Redlands in a 3 game series before sweeping a DH on Saturday vs TCS Post Grad.

Things get tougher for the Trojans this week as they travel to nationally 5th ranked McLennan on Monday before opening Region play with Eastern later in the week.

This week: Mon: at McLennan; Thur at Eastern; Sat vs Eastern (DH)

9. Oklahoma State Cowboys (NCAA D1), 8-3, Prev 10

The Cowboys opened their home slate this week going 4-0. They beat Central Arkansas in the midweek game before sweeping Sam Houston over the weekend. Sunday’s game was a tough 1-0 win where the Pokes scored the winning run in the 8th on an error by the Bearkats.

The Pokes are currently riding a 7 game winning streak.

This week: Tues vs Missouri State; Fri-Sun vs Gardner Webb

10 (tie). NOC Enid Jets (NJCAA D2), 15-5; Prev NR

The Jets are currently on a 7 game heater including their 4 game sweep vs Pratt this past week. The highlight was Thursday’s DH where the Jets scored 53 runs in the 2 games vs the Beaves.

This week: Tues at Seward County; Sat-Sun vs North Iowa Area CC

10 (tie). Southeastern OK State Savage Storm (NCAA D2), 11-5; Prev NR

The Savage Storm are quietly moving up the ranks winning 9 of their last 11 games. That includes a 7-2 mark in the GAC after 3 series which is good enough for a tie for 2nd place currently only 1 game out of 1st.

This week: Tues vs East Central (non con); Fri-Sat vs NWOSU

Receiving Votes (in alphabetical order): N/A

Dropped Out: Southwestern Christian (Prev: #7)
