The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Konawa Tigers
Classification: 3A
2025 Spring Results: 23-11 (Area Finalist)
Head Coach: Cody Pair
Head coaching experience: 13 years (1st at Beggs)
Top Returners
- Jerrett Hammer – Returning district starter and middle infielder. A competitor and a ballplayer in every sense of the word. He plays the game the right way and sets the tone with toughness and consistency.
- Landon Helt – Pitcher/MIF with a big frame and big tools. Talented across the board — he can run, he can hit, he can hit for power, and he defends. High ceiling player who impacts the game in multiple ways.
- Dallas Wilson – C/P and our field general. He has developed into a really strong defender and leader behind the plate. He’s getting better every day and makes the guys around him better. Presence, toughness, and command of the game.
- Colton McCoy – 1B/P who has shown flashes of real power in scrimmages. Looks to be a run producer for us and gives us physicality in the middle of the lineup.
- Ethan Davison – 3B/P who missed some time but has come back showing great bat-to-ball skills and raw power. The ability is there, and he continues to knock the rust off and trend upward.
- Lane Kelley – CF/P and a plus defender in the outfield. Covers ground, plays with confidence, and projects as a middle-of-the-order bat with both speed and power.
- Dayson Sparkman – Freshman LHH/UT who is going to hit. Advanced feel for the barrel and not afraid of the moment. Excited about his future and immediate impact.
- Kash Coale – 2B/P who will eat up innings on the mound and compete every time out. When he’s not pitching, he’s our everyday second baseman. Steady, reliable, and tough.
- Keven Monteque – OF with plus speed. A threat every time he gets on base and covers a ton of ground defensively. Changes the game with his legs.
- Owen Holland – OF who is a very solid defender with a steady bat. Runs the bases extremely well and will be a consistent producer for us.
Top Newcomers
Davison and Sparkman are both newcomers and will help a defending area team out in a lot of ways. No signings to report but we have guys that will be signing this spring, not signing yet does not reflect the talent level. We have a few guys that will have opportunities at the next level.
Overall Team Strengths
- We’ve shown flashes in every facet of the game. Our district arms are going to be tough and competitive. Defensively, we’ve played at a very high level. At the plate, we’ve already seen signs of real production, and that bodes well as we get deeper into the season. We’ve also run the bases extremely well — aggressive and shown discipline.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
- We have to continue to develop depth on the mound. We need a few more guys to step up, gain confidence, attack the zone, and trust the defense behind them. That’s the next step for us.
- Offensively, we demand a lot. Our guys are learning a system — how to simplify their approach and let the game slow down instead of trying to speed it up. That growth takes reps and experience.
- I believe those areas will continue to improve. As confidence builds and the game slows down for our guys, you’ll see this team take another step forward. We’re going to keep growing, keep developing, and be playing our best baseball when it matters most.
Outlook
Now it’s about consistency. When we lock all three phases in at the same time and play a full seven innings the right way, we will be tough to beat — we look to be a team that can control games and win them late.
