The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Asher Indians
Classification: B
2025 Spring Results: 15-11 (State Quarterfinalist)
2025 Fall Results: 15-13
Head Coach: Elliot Alberson
Head coaching experience: 14 years (1st at Asher)
Top Returners
- Easton Welch (JR) – Easton brings an extremely strong bat where he can flash coverage and power. He also shows a strong glove in the field
- Hudson Skender (JR) – Hudson is a well rounded player which has strong contributions at the plate, defensively, and on the mound
- Beau Willis (SR) – Beau is a tough competitor who shows a strong bat at the plate. He contributes on the mound and has the flexibility to play multiple positions.
Top Newcomers
- Mitchell Skender (FR) – Mitchell has a strong frame and will contribute at the plate, field, and on the mound.
Overall Team Strengths
I expect our defense and offense to take a jump with some additions and the growth during the offseason.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
I believe we need to continue to be one pitch warriors and have the ability to move more effectively from one pitch to the next.
Outlook
I’m excited for the start of the season and to see the growth we’ve shown through the off-season. I expect for the team to compete for a state tournament bid and a championship.
