The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

Today’s team: Calvin Bulldogs

Classification: B

2025 Spring Results: 9-7

2025 Fall Results: 7-12

Head Coach: Brandon Maggia

Head coaching experience: 5 years (all at Calvin)

Top Returners

  • Geanny Carrillo-Sr(1B/RHP)
  • Landen Rippee-SR(CF)
  • Elijah Allison-SR(DH)
  • Julian Watkins-JR(Utility)

Top Newcomers

  • Jax Winningham-FR(SS/RHP)
  • Tim Allison-FR(INF)
  • Riggin Waugh-FR(INF)
  • Damien Carrillo-SO(1B/OF/LHP)
  • Alex Carrillo-SO(Catcher/LHP)

Overall Team Strengths

We’re more confident and experienced all around this year than we were last year with a group of athletic freshmen hungry to help get this team headed in the right direction. Our top arm is returning for his sophomore year and we’ll have some freshmen hitting toward the top of the lineup. I’m hoping the balance of talented youth mixed with some experience can help guide this team to success.

Overall Team Needs to Work On

Finding offensive production early may be a struggle, but with more experience as the season goes on, I expect this group to start to produce.

Outlook

This team will look to build off the Foundation of last Spring. With the addition of some young talent mixed with some experience, I expect this team to keep taking steps forward.
