The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Cushing Tigers
Classification: 4A
2025 Spring Results: 22-9
Head Coach: Kyler Patterson
Head coaching experience: 1st year
Top Returners
- Lane Simpson (Soph) – Super athletic outfielder that was in and out of the lineup last year, hitting .315 as a freshman. Expect Lane to be at the top of the lineup this season.
- Gage Sharp (Soph) – Another extremely athletic outfielder that can run. Gage earned a spot in the lineup during our playoff run last season as a freshman. Has gotten bigger and stronger this year. Expect Gage to be at the top of the lineup this season.
- Beau Ladd (Jr) – Started majority of sophomore season. High IQ player and our energy guy. Vocal leader on the field that is willing to do whatever the team needs. Beau has gotten stronger this off-season adding some pop in his bat. Should be middle of the lineup guy that can drive in runs. Will have chance to help us on the mound as well.
- Maddox Morris (Jr) – Maddox is our most experienced arm returning from last year, posting a 3.0 ERA in 16 innings. Maddox has chance to be a district arm and play infield for us.
Top Newcomers
- Braxton Colclasure (Jr) – Braxton has been one of the most improved players this off-season and has a chance to solidify himself as our everyday guy behind the plate.
- Boston Estes (Sr) – Boston is an athletic middle infielder that hit in the middle of the lineup at his previous school. Will help us on the mound as well.
- Sayler Rackley (Fr) – Sayler is big, powerful freshman that knows how to pitch. Sayler will be able to make an immediate impact on the mound for us this season.
Overall Team Strengths
We will be a very athletic team and have speed all throughout the lineup.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Learning to play together. New team, new players that will have to learn to play and compete with one another.
Outlook
After losing 8 key contributors from last season, we will need kids to step up and grow into bigger roles this season. We have a roster full of athleticism and competitors that will look to compete for and earn their role for the 2026 season. Expect this team to continue to improve all season.
