The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Central (Marlow) Bronchos
Classification: A-1
2025 Spring Results: 9-11
Head Coach: Hunter Mildren
Head coaching experience: 3 years (2 at Central)
Top Returners
- Landon Johnson will be our top returning pitcher and likely hit in the 3 hole.
- Luke Thrasher will be another top arm on the mound as well as the everyday centerfielder and likely hit in the 4 spot in the lineup. Other top returners will include catcher,
- Jameson Scott, Infielder/pitcher
- Jensen Nunez, and outfielder Kobe Marquis.
Top Newcomers
- Top newcomers will be senior pitcher Aden Foster and Freshman First basemen Layne Johnson. Other newcomers expected to make an impact or freshman outfielder/pitcher Hagen Hertzog and freshman outfielder Aidan Haggerty.
Overall Team Strengths
Our pitching will clearly be our biggest strength, though we are also returning 4 different players who hit .350 or better last year. So our offense should be very solid as well.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Our biggest weakness is consistency and defense. If we make the routine plays we will be tough to beat
Outlook
I fully believe we will be a district host team this year, possibly even contending for a district bye. Once we get to the postseason, anything is possible with our pitching.
