The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Valliant Bulldogs
Classification: 3A
2025 Spring Results: 22-17 (Area Finalist)
Head Coach: Carl Abbott
Head coaching experience: 3 years (all at Valliant)
Top Returners
- Brody Dorries (Seminole JC) Sr. Pitcher/Shortstop. Leading hitter as well.
- Cameron Jones, Pitcher, 1B.
- Landyn Howard, Pitcher, 2nd base.
- Howard and Jones are both juniors this year who will pitch and help Dorries anchor pitching rotation.
- Auzy Trapp, another junior, will play CF and be another viable pitcher for the Bulldogs.
- Rowan Gee, a senior, will plaly 3rd.
- Jakobi Newsome, a senior, will catch.
Top Newcomers
- Jack Merimon, a sophomore, will play ss and 2nd
- Ayden Garrett, a junior, should see action as well in the outfield and pitch some.
Overall Team Strengths
Feel that our pitching and defense should allow us to compete in most games.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Situational hitting, getting bunts down.
Outlook
We should have a competitive team this year. feel like if things go right and we stay relatively healthy that we could have a very good season.
