The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.*

*For Silo, Kevin Farr (silorebels.tv) provided the preview.

Top Returners

  • SR Zane Sander (signed with Cowley County) – Third year catalyst at the top of the batting order. Coming off most productive season of his high school career in the spring in which he hit .477 with 10 extra base hits, 36 runs scored and a .577 on base percentage.
  • JR Aiden McCarty – Ace of the pitching staff and consistent three-hole hitter. Batted .391 with team-best 26 runs batted in a season ago. Posted a 9-1 mound record in 56-plus innings and yielded only six runs with an opponent batting average of just .130. He notched a 0.74 ERA with 63 strikeouts and 10 walks.
  • JR Blane Beauchamp – Notched a 5-1 mound record and 1.13 ERA in 37 innings in the fall and also came on strong at the plate while finishing with a .425 batting average.
  • JR Nolan Northcott – Defensive stalwart on the left side of the infield and strong armed righthander that has been a key cog in the pitching arsenal for the last two seasons. Has a 1.16 ERA over that span with 63 strikeouts over 48 innings.
  • SO Cannon Atwood – Southpaw that finished as one of the club’s top arms in the rotation last fall with a 5-0 record and 0.51 ERA in 27 innings. Defensive standout at first base that saw his average at the plate surge throughout the fall campaign, batting .333 for the season.
  • SR Sam Mendenall – Versatile player that missed majority of the fall campaign with injury but will be back to 100 percent for the spring season and try to pick up where he left off last spring in which he was a key contributor on the mound for the Rebels as well as on the infield.
  • SR Cord Standridge – Senior outfielder that batted .341 after moving into full time starting duty last fall.

Top Newcomers

  • A lot of newcomers stepped into key roles during a state semifinal finish last fall. That includes sophomore catchers Ty Hatley and Peyton Scoggin as well as outfield speedster Jacob Wright and utility infielder Warner Bradley.

Overall Team Strengths

Youth laden pitching staff notched a team earned run average under one most of the fall, finishing with a sensational 1.09 ERA in over 185 innings for the season. They fired 12 shutouts and allowed more than two runs only six times in 29 games. That was after sporting a 1.77 team ERA in the Spring of 2025.

Overall Team Needs to Work On

Run production will be a point of emphasis after a lineup loaded with new full time starters struggled much of the fall campaign with runners in scoring position.

Outlook

Rebels have the pitching staff depth and defensive ability to be right in the state championship mix once again. If the bats come around, especially with runners on, after picking up needed experience in the fall they will definitely be contending come May.
