The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Dewey Bulldoggers
Classification: 3A
2025 Spring Results: 21-14
Head Coach: Riley Allen
Head coaching experience: 10 seasons (4 at Dewey)
Top Returners
- Easton Davis (Sr) – 5 tool player who does everything for us. Lead team in RBIs last year with 38. Low 80’s on the mound
- Nate Sloan (Sr) – best hitter on the team. Lead the team last year with a .435 batting Average.
- Parker Garrison (Sr.) – high Baseball IQ. Top 5 last year in all Offensive stats.
- Lathe Griggs (Sr.) – low 80s fastball, commands the zone with 3 pitches. Will be our #1.
- Layne Gastel – high contact hitter, excellent defensively. Low 80s fastball
Top Newcomers
- Mason Snellgrove – injured most of the year last season. Looking to him to be a middle of the order guy for us this year
Overall Team Strengths
Speed, high team OBP, pitching depth
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Consistent defense. Shows signs of excellence in the field, but will struggle to make plays at times. Also, we are undersized.
Outlook
Going into this season I believe if we lean into our stengths we will have a chance to win every game we play. We are reliant on putting the ball in play and creating opportunities on the base paths. Doing this, along with having a pitching staff that can get ahead in the count and make hitters uncomfortable, the sky is the limit for this group.
