The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Westmoore Jaguars
Classification: 6A
2025 Spring Results: 21-16
Head Coach: Brian Hunnicutt
Head coaching experience: 3 years (3 at Westmoore)
Top Returners
- Brodie Inhofe– (NOC Enid) Brodie has been a big part of our pitching staff going back to his sophomore year. This year will be no different as he is primed to have a great senior season on the mound as well as in a utility role for us this year.
- Anthony Carter– (NOC Enid) Anthony had a strong 2025 season that saw him grow and improve with every outing. By the end of the season Anthony was pitching in some of our biggest games. He is poised to have a great senior season where he could have a big impact in our rotation as well as in our lineup.
- Jaxson Teel– (NOC Tonkawa) Jaxson was a mainstay in our bullpen last season. He appeared in several big games and did well. He will have look to build off that to shoulder a bigger load for this year’s staff.
- Justin Penland– (NOC Tonkawa) Justin had a good start to his 2025 season behind the plate and in the lineup. An early season injury kept him out for a majority of the season. He is poised to have a bounce back year for us in the infield and in the lineup.
- Timothy Stoner– (2026) Timmy played a big role for our pitching staff last season. He appeared in several big games and had 2 big starts late in the season. His role will increase this year as he looks to spend time in the infield as well as on the mound.
- Bodee Cook– (2026) Bodee found some time on the mound and in the lineup last season. In his pitching outings, he showed flashes of his true potential. He looks to expand on those experiences and take on a bigger role for our staff.
- Brody Vandeventer– (2026) Brody has found time in our outfield going back to his sophomore year, due to his superb defensive skillset. He is poised to be an anchor in our outfield and have a breakout year at the plate for us this season. He could also find some time out of the bullpen.
- Talen Stallings– (2026) Talen showed some flashes last season in his opportunities in the outfield and at the plate. He is set up to have a breakout year and be another anchor for us in the outfield.
- Maddux McMartin– (2028) Due to injuries, Maddux was thrust into the lineup as a freshmen last season. He excelled at his opportunities and earned the catching job down the stretch. He looks to build off of that and is ready to have another great season.
Top Newcomers
- Amiel Brazoban– (2027) A strong bat, has the potential to find some time in the lineup.
- Brody Miller– (2027) A crafty pitcher, has earned some opportunities on the varsity staff.
- Hudson Schornick– (2027) Another crafty pitcher that has earned opportunities on the varsity staff.

- Gavin Hauck– (2028) An overall ballplayer that could find time in the outfield or out of the bullpen.
- Brody Hagemann– (2029) An overall ballplayer with great athleticism and a strong arm. He will find time on the varsity pitching staff and potentially in the outfield.
- Easton Vandeventer– (2029) Maturity beyond his years, a strong bat and solid glove give him a great shot to be a mainstay in our lineup this season.
Overall Team Strengths
This year we will rely on an experienced pitching staff and improved team chemistry.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Simply put we lack a lot of varsity experience everywhere but on the mound. We’ll just need to be able to handle any adversity that comes with that positively, then learn and grow throughout the season.
Outlook
We’ll most likely lean on our veteran arms early to give our younger players the runway they need to develop. Through steady progression and a competitive schedule, I am confident we will be a more complete and dangerous ball club come May.
