The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

Today’s team: Capitol Hill Redwolves

Classification: 6A

2025 Spring Results: 10-28

Head Coach: Jason Corley

Head coaching experience: 17 years (3 at Capitol Hill)

Top Returners

  • Santos Flores – Sr 1B/RHP – We will rely on his bat and pitching arm. Big kid with a huge upside
  • Rueben Uribe – Sr. LHP/OF – Ruben was our Game 1 district starter last year. We will rely on him to give us some big innings this again
  • Bryce Parson – So. SS/RHP – Athletic and fast. Will need to stay under control and execute for us at leadoff. Huge Upside with lots of potential
  • Alan Duarte – Jr. C/2B Alan has played for us for two years. He has improved every year and this year could be an impact player for us at the plate.

Top Newcomers

  • JuJu Rubio – Fr. 3B Will have to grow up fast on the diamond but comes in as talented freshman that will make an impact
  • Anthony Sanchez Facio – Fr CF/2B Anthony has lots of speed. Don’t let his smaller stature fool you. The kid can play!

Overall Team Strengths

Infield Defense will be the best we’ve had since I arrived. The kids are coachable and are starting to understand where to be and how to execute.

Overall Team Needs to Work On

Hitting and eliminating errors. We have struggled to find the ball at the plate but this team has been more committed to the process and learning to relax. I expect an improvement at the plate. Errors have been a struggle but most of those are due to lack of confidence and understanding. This team has been focused on learning how to execute and where to execute based upon the situation. I am excited to see their hard work pay off.

Outlook

This team is not as athletic as previous teams but they are the most coachable group we’ve had since my arrival. They listen and try to execute at their best. If we continue to build that confidence then it will pay great dividends during games.
