The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

Today’s team: Dover Longhorns

Classification: B

2025 Spring Results: 16-13

2025 Fall Results: 22-9 (State quarterfinalist)

Head Coach: Pete Voth

Head coaching experience: 14 years (2nd at Dover)

Top Returners

  • Bryce Cockayne– Senior-Utility player and pitcher who has the overall best bat in the lineup. Had never caught an inning before this fall but his leadership helped us to make the fall state tournament.
  • Casen Buck– Junior-Smooth infielder, strong bat and one of the best arms in the team. Most consistent player on offense defense and the mound.
  • Trypp Lack– Junior- Middle of the lineup guy who provides a lot of pop and RBIs handles a lot of big games on the mound.
  • Brennan Fletcher– Senior- plays wherever he’s needed and handles most of the relief on the mound. Solid bat in the middle of the order
  • Brok Cooper– junior- played most innings at 2b and hit leadoff.

Top Newcomers

  • Same team as this fall.

Overall Team Strengths

We pitch it well and are deep at that position. We had a very solid defense and several guys who are comfortable at many different positions.

Overall Team Needs to Work On

We need bring up our team batting avg and slugging to help us our in tight games. We made improvements this fall but still have a long way to go to get where we need to be offensively.

Outlook

I expect us to pick up where we left off this fall. We have a tough schedule because I know these boys can compete with the best teams.
