The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Tuttle Tigers
Classification: 4A
2025 Results: 34-8 (State Runner Up)
Head Coach: Breck Draper
Head coaching experience: 12 years (7 at Tuttle)
Top Returners
- Hunter Watson– RHP/1B- OU Signee- One of the top arms in the state. Fastball will be low to mid 90s. Been up to 94 already in January. Also will be in middle of our lineup for 3rd straight year.
- Jett McCoy– 3B- Hutchinson CC Signee- Leadoff, can really really hit and run. Electric player.
- Jackson Johnson– CF/RHP- NOC Enid Signee- Our juice guy. All around awesome player in all aspects of the game. Closer for us on the mound.
- Andy Forrest– INF- Western OK College Signee- Switch hitting infielder who can play all over the field. Consistent on a daily basis and can really swing it.
- Bronson Johns– RHP/INF- NOC Enid Signee- Was nails for us on the mound as a starter last year. Faced the best teams we played and grew as the season went. Really good command of 3 pitches.
- Traylon Barnes– SS/RHP- Uncommitted Junior- One of the better players in the 2027 class. Solid at the plate. Good infielder and really electric on the mound.
- Hudson Heathco– 1B/OF/RHP- Uncommitted Senior- Earned a spot in middle of our order last year and should drive in a bunch of runs for us this spring. Made move to 1B last year and is very dependable there for us.
- Dakotah Mallory– C- Uncommitted Junior- Solid for us last year back half of the season. Handled a very talented staff well. Really good throwing runners out last season.
Top Newcomers
- Dallin Pratt– Soph- OF/LHP- Youngster who can really swing it left handed. Solid in the outfield as well and on the mound.
- Luke Dahlgren– Junior- OF- Has a chance to be an everyday player for the first time this year. Has shown to be really solid offensively this preseason and has a great arm in the OF as well.
- Carter VanAuken– Soph- 1B/OF/RHP- Has a chance to earn a role this year. Can swing it from the right side.
Overall Team Strengths
Our pitching staff and defense should be really solid this year. Offensively we have a ton of experience back and guys who can really run.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Have to fill a few spots and do what makes us successful offensively (put pressure on other team to make plays against us).
Outlook
Very excited about this group. It was my first group of 6th grade PE class when I came to Tuttle. They are very determined and motivated. They lead each other well and as a coach that’s very refreshing. A very accountable group who wants to win everyday, and works with that in mind.
