The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

Today’s team: Collinsville Cardinals

Classification: 5A

2025 Results: 27-8 (Regional finalist)

Head Coach: Tony Reeder

Head coaching experience: 42 years (30 at Collinsville)

Top Returners

  • Cal Schlomann– Senior-UTL/RHP R/R Cal is a guy that has been on the Varsity since he was a Freshman. He has been a utility guy for us that plays in the infield and the outfield depending on who is on the mound that day. He will be a Monday/Tuesday arm for us that will also hit at the top of our lineup.
  • Trent Foster– Senior- (Allen County)-3B/RHP R/R Trent was a role player last year that will become an everyday guy in the lineup for us this season at 3B. He is also an arm that we will rely on in the back end of the bullpen.
  • Talan Rush– Senior-1B/RHP R/R Talon started everyday for us at 1B as a sophomore. We missed him last year due to a torn labrum. He will be a middle of the lineup guy that plays 1B every day and throws out of the bullpen as a closer as well.
  • Cayden Cupps– Senior-OF/RHP R/R Cayden started every day for us in RF last year. He is coming off having surgery this fall and is just now cleared to swing it and throw. We are hoping to get him back early in the season to sure up our OF and be a guy that really helps this lineup.

Top Newcomers

  • Kris Winebarger-Senior-C R/R Kris will be an everyday guy behind the plate for us. He will also be a guy that hits in the middle of our order. His leadership handling this pitching staff will be big for us this season.
  • Garrett White-Junior-INF R/R Garrett will be a guy that plays in the middle infield for us and helps us at the top of our lineup.
  • Noah Medina-Junior-UTL/RHP R/R Noah is a guy that can play both the infield and outfield. He will be a key guy for us in our lineup as well.
  • Branden Broadway-Junior-OF/RHP Branden transitioned to the OF this fall and has really helped with our depth out there. He will be a guy that starts out there everyday and he will also start games on the mound for us on the weekends.
  • Beckett Marshall– Junior-INF R/R Beckett has slid into the 2B position for us this fall. He is a guy that you can count on to make the routine play every time. He also gives us a guy that can handle the bat at the bottom of our lineup.
  • Landon Hollenbeck-Junior-1B R/R Landon is a guy that will get some time at 1B and in the DH spot. He has really progressed offensively for us this fall and we look for him to be an important part of our lineup.
  • Isaac Seger Sprain-Junior-RHP/1B R/R Isaac has been a nig addition to our Pitching Staff. He will be a Monday/Tuesday arm for us that looks to help lead our pitching staff. He also gives us a power bat off the bench late in the game.
  • Trevor Stephenson-Junior-RHP/1B R/R Trevor will be our rock out of the bullpen this year. He will be the first arm out of the bullpen that we use to stop the bleeding per say. We are really counting on his this season.
  • Other Role Players: Cooper Holly (C), Ian Eubanks (LHP), Rusty Topping (INF/RHP), Isaiah Carrasco (OF), Matteo Carrasco (OF), and Sam Peters (RHP)

Overall Team Strengths

Culture: Having 15 transfers over the last year and a half has been a challenge. This group has really bought into our culture as a program and has really grown as a team. I think where the lack of experience tends to hurt teams, I think it might be the one that that drives us. This group has a chip on their shoulder and a “prove them wrong” attitude that we have been missing the last few years.

Overall Team Needs to Work On

Pitching Depth: I think this will be the biggest area that we will need to develop. We some some young arms that a ready to come up and help the Varsity if needed.

Outlook

I think that is yet to be determined. We have a bunch of guys that have waited their time or transferred from programs where they didn’t really get a chance to prove what kind of baseball player they are. That is something that could really work in our favor throughout this year. We just won’t really know until the bullets start firing per say.
