The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

2025 Results: 31-10 (State semifinalist)

Head coaching experience: 7 years (1 at Bixby)

Top Returners

• 2026 Nate Gonzalez – game changing speed, athletic defender, played every day in 2025 as a junior.
• 2026 Graham Knight (Cowley CC) – coming into his own physically, good defender in the OF and will be a legitimate power threat
• 2027 Barrett Standley (Louisiana-Monroe) – one of the top bats in the state and continuing to improve. Expecting him to produce a ton of runs in the middle of the order.
• 2027 Dax Sullivan – athletic middle infielder, plays hard. Budding leader.

Top Newcomers

• 2026 Jackson Turney – elite power, has a chance to drive the baseball all spring
• 2026 Cody Young (Cowley CC) – 5-tool guy with huge upside. Will be a disruptor on offense and provide elite athleticism defensively
• 2027 John Crosby – Made some starts last year as a sophomore, very athletic and developing physically. Has a chance to be an impact player

Outlook

We will be athletic up and down the order and have a chance to win a lot of different ways. Being able to acclimate the new players to the day to day grind of 6A varsity baseball will be a challenge, but we have enough leadership returning that we don’t anticipate an exceptional amount of growing pains.
