The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Putnam City North Panthers
Classification: 6A
2025 Results: 6-25
Head Coach: Greg Johnson
Head coaching experience: 3 years (all at PC North)
Top Returners
- Quincy Robinson– SS. Quincy is an athletic shortstop with great hands and instincts. While still being raw what he lacks in experience he makes up for with athleticism. He hit just below 400 last year and looks to have a good year at the plate again this year with added power. Still deciding on college.
- Gavin Lang– P. Gavin is pitcher that sits in the upper 80’s with very good curveball. Working to control other off speed pitches, but locates fastball and curveball well. Tough competitor on the mound.
- Austin Guerrero– Utility Austin is a player that will play mutliple positions for us including SS, 3rd, and Centerfield and will provide us with a consistent bat in the top of the lineup.
Top Newcomers
- Reece Hubble– Utility. Reece will play multiple spots on the infield for us as well as provide pitching depth. He is a senior that will give us consistency in the middle of the lineup as well as in the field.
Overall Team Strengths
- Competitiveness
- Overall pitching depth
- Contact hitters that will put pressure on defense.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Overall depth and consistency in the field.
Outlook
Our outlook for the season is very positive. We feel like we can compete with just about any team on any given day. We know we will have to have everything go right to beat the best teams in 6A, but also know as a staff that our players will go compete. We feel like we will have a big improvement in number of wins this year and finish above 500.
