It is hard to believe, but the 2025 college baseball season is less than a month away for several of our squads here in the Sooner State.
Over the next several weeks leading up to the season we will be looking a some of our teams on the college level. Recently we sent out a questionnaire to the head coaches of each squad from the NCAA D2, NAIA, NCCAA, and NJCAA levels asking about their returning players and incoming players as well as their thoughts about their strengths and “opportunities” heading into the 2025 season.
Let’s take a look at a team with high expectations for the 2025 season at the NCAA D2 (Junior College) level: Cameron Aggies.
2024 Recap
The good news for the Aggies in 2024 was they had the most wins in a season since 2019. The bad news that it was still only 17 wins.
Having said that, there was still some positive aspects of the Aggies in 2024. They went 17-18 after losing 12 straight to start the season. That is their best stretch since 2017 which was their last winning season. Also, Cameron was 2nd in the Lone Star Conference in team home runs at 76.
However, in reality, Cameron still finished no where near where they wanted to be as they finished 12 in the 13 team Lone Start Conference.

Outlook
Not having a winning season since 2017, Cameron started to show improvement over the last 3/4 of the 2024 season. However, the Aggies only return 7 players from that team (4 position, 3 pitchers).
What they do have returning is one of the best hitters in the conference last year in Lance Barrett. Barrett was one of the best sluggers in the LSC as he was 2nd in HRs (16), 3rd in SLG (.761), and 7th in OPS (1.178). Donovan Borg is also a good middle of the order bat.
The Aggies also have some impressive guys coming in as transfers. Wilmer Henriquez had 25 HRs and 91 RBIs in 2 seasons of JUCO ball. Diego Villareal also hit proficiently in his JUCO career.
Where the Aggies will need to improve the most is on the mound. Coach Williams likes what he saw in the Fall from his 3 returning pitchers and expects to see improved results from them in 2025. Cullen Flowers is a newcomer who put up good numbers at Galveston CC in his 2 years there and Hunter Davis is a NCAA D1 transfer.
Although there is several new faces in the program this year, Coach Williams already likes the maturity, toughness, and athleticism he’s seen on this squad. However, with all the new players, it is going to take time to figure out the roles each player will play.
Cameron plays in a tough conference as 3 teams made the NCAA D2 National Tournament last year (Lubbock Christian, Angelo State, and West Texas A&M). Angelos State has made the D2 World Series the last 4 seasons winning the national title in 2023 and runner up last year.
Not only does Cameron play in one of the toughest conferences around, the LSC plays 48 conference games with 4 games each weekend. They jump immediately in conference play the opening weekend of the season.
If the influx of new player pan out on the field, and this team gels, don’t be surprised to see the Aggies finish in the top 8 of the conference and qualify for the LSC Tournament.
