Edmond Memorial

Record: 22-9 (12-2)

After a massive district sweep over Westmoore to clinch a hosting spot, the Bulldogs have been “rewarded” with what looks to be the toughest regional to come out of the two OKC districts. Memorial started the year hot, winning their first ten games over opponents from Oklahoma after a 1-2 showing at the Five Tool Festival in DFW. Although they cooled off a bit in the second half of the season, the Bulldogs have proved more than capable of beating the best squads in the state in wins over teams such as Bixby, Union, and Edmond Santa Fe.

Deer Creek

Record: 19-17 (9-5)

We know the Antlers have the talent to compete with the best of the best across the state after big wins throughout the year against Edmond North and Memorial, as well as Union. However, the Antlers have been plagued by inconsistency that’s led to finding themselves at only two games over .500 at the end of the season despite one of the better rosters in the state. In the final weeks of the season, Deer Creek was able to pick up a couple of key wins over tough district opponents, so the Antlers have reason for optimism heading into a tough regional.

Putnam City North

Record: 8-24 (3-11)

Although the overall record isn’t what the Panthers were hoping for heading into the season, there are still positives to be taken away from the season. The offense has proven capable of exploding for big games, putting up 27 and 23-run performances this season. However they haven’t been able to put it together enough against some of the better teams in the state, and they got no favors with how things played out with regional seeding, not getting the benefit of a traditional fourth seed they could feel better about their chances against.

Yukon

Record: 11-25 (4-10)

By now most everyone reading this knows that Yukon was forced to forfeit all of their wins from before April 1, and there’s no need to go into the detail of the situation other than to say it’s caused the other three teams in this regional not to have the benefit of a typical four seed. The Millers split each of their final two series of the season against Norman and Deer Creek, dropping them down to the bottom two in the district after coming out on the wrong side of a three-way tiebreaker against Putnam City and PC West. Again, the Millers aren’t a typical fourth seed, and they have a senior core of players who got a taste of a state tournament run last season when they made their way to the semi-finals before losing to Enid.
