It’s officially April ladies and gentlemen, and that means it’s crunch time for teams at all levels. Teams at the top of the standings like MACU and Oklahoma Wesleyan have begun to solidify their spots in the upper echelon, but time has not run out for teams that got off to slower starts. Just last week we saw teams like East Central pull of several huge wins to get themselves out of the GAC basement. Click here to take a look at the highlights of last week’s action, but now, it’s time to look ahead at the best of what’s to come.

Matchup of the week (College) – UCO vs Missouri Southern

One of the biggest games not just in the state but in the nation is this conference matchup between a surging UCO bunch and a top 10 Missouri Southern squad. The Bronchos come into the series one game behind the Lions, and four games back of the conference leaders Central Missouri. Last week, a conference sweep over Emporia State for UCO and a shocking series loss to Northwest Missouri for MSSU tightened the race enough to give this week’s battle the added intensity of putting whoever comes away victorious ahead in the standings.

Top Sooner State Showdown (College) – Oklahoma City vs Southwestern Christian

It’s a bit of a lighter week of in-state matchups this week, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to look forward to. A big matchup at the NAIA level is on deck this week with a conference series between Oklahoma City and Southwestern Christian. OCU sits at second in the SAC standings behind a MACU squad that has looked unbeatable in recent weeks. Frankly, there’s not a great path to clawing their way back to the top spot, but OCU needs at least a series win this weekend to maintain their spot in second place. For Southwestern Christian, a sixth place spot in the standings looks a bit more troubling than it really is. They sit only one game behind fourth place USAO, and a series win would have the outlook of the rest of their season looking much brighter.
