Last week we had what could be considered a state tournament preview at the Dale Invitational. Oktaha came out of there as the champs.
This week we have another event where we could see some of the teams in the state tournament in October as well. The Eastern Okahoma State College Festival is happening on Thursday and Friday where the Mountaineers play in Wilburton.
Four teams will be playing each other over the 2 days. Those 4 teams are Oktaha, Rattan, Wister, and Red Oak. Yeah, talk about getting battle tested for the season.
Oktaha (#1), Rattan (#3), and Wister (#5) are all ranked in the SSBR Super Six Rankings that came out Monday.
Team Capsules
Oktaha Tigers
Oktaha is coming into the EOSC Festival at 6-0. Outside of an extra inning game vs Dale, the Tigers have been dominant (although Oktaha did score 10 runs in that game vs Dale).
Record: 6-0; Wins over Wright City, Byng, Latta, Dale, Okay, and Leflore
Rattan Rams
Rattan has been impressive themselves. They avenged their only loss (AmPo, 3-2), by beating that same team 7-1. In their 6 wins, the Rams have scored over 60 runs combined and have blown each team out.
Record: 6-1; Wins over Haworth, Rock Creek, Roff, Tushka, AmPo, Battiest
Wister Wildcats
Wister opened the first week going including winning the CASC Tournament with a combined score of 35-1.
Record: 5-0; Wins over Red Oak (2X), Leflore, Howe
Red Oak Eagles
Red Oak is the one team who has struggled to start the season. They’ve lost 4 times with 2 of those losses to Wister.
Record: 3-4; Wins over Howe JV, Cameron, Battiest
